Questions & answers

The things people ask before they trust us.

Short answers, no hedging, and a straight “no” where the honest answer is no. If something you need is missing, ask us and we will add it here.

Getting started

What Sparrow is, and what the first hour looks like.

What is Sparrow?

A platform for businesses that talk to their customers on WhatsApp. It gives you a shared inbox your whole team can answer from, contacts and customer groups, campaigns to reach people who opted in, automations for the messages you send over and over, and optional AI assistance.

What do I need before I sign up?

A business, and a phone number you can use for WhatsApp Business that is not currently attached to a personal WhatsApp account. You do not need a card, and you do not need anything from us first — you can create the workspace and then connect WhatsApp.

How long is the trial?

14 days. It is the full product with smaller volumes — three team members, 500 campaign recipients, three active automations and 250 AI credits — and no card is required to start. The pricing page sets out exactly what is included.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your data stays. The workspace moves to limited access until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted, and nothing is charged unless you decide to subscribe.

WhatsApp & Meta

How the connection works, and where Sparrow stops and Meta starts.

How do I connect WhatsApp?

From onboarding, or later from Settings → WhatsApp, click Connect with Meta. Meta’s own signup window opens, and you sign in, choose or create your business portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account, add and verify your business phone number, and approve the permissions. When it closes, you are connected.

Do I need to share my Meta password?

No, and you never should. You authenticate inside Meta’s own window. Sparrow never sees your password, and there is no field anywhere in Sparrow for a Meta password, an access token, a WhatsApp Business Account ID or a phone number ID.

Does Sparrow store Meta access tokens?

Yes — it has to, in order to send and receive on your behalf when you are not at the screen. It is held encrypted in a dedicated secret store, unreachable from the browser and from any signed-in user, never displayed in the product, never written to logs, and deleted outright when you disconnect. The security page describes exactly how.

Is Sparrow affiliated with Meta?

No. Sparrow is an independent platform operated by The Sketch Agency for Designs. We are not Meta, we are not owned by Meta, and we are not endorsed by Meta. We integrate with the WhatsApp Business Platform the same way any other third-party tool does. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.

Can I disconnect WhatsApp later?

Yes, at any time, from Settings → WhatsApp. Owners and admins can do it, it asks for confirmation, and it takes effect immediately.

Your conversations stay. Disconnecting stops sending and removes our stored credentials — it does not delete contacts, conversations or message history. If you do want data erased, that is a separate request on the data deletion page. You may also want to remove Sparrow from your Meta Business settings separately; disconnecting inside Sparrow does not do that for you.

Does Sparrow work with Instagram or Messenger?

No. Sparrow is a WhatsApp product, and the app requests only the two WhatsApp permissions it needs. Integrations lists what is and is not connected, without roadmap promises.

Campaigns

What a send actually does, and what it deliberately does not.

How does a campaign work?

You pick an approved WhatsApp template, choose who receives it, and review the plan before anything goes out. The audience is frozen when the campaign is scheduled, so what you reviewed is what ships — a contact added to a group afterwards is not swept into a send you already approved.

Can a campaign send a follow-up on its own?

No, and Sparrow does not pretend otherwise. A campaign broadcasts one approved template to a frozen audience and tracks what happened to it. Multi-step follow-up is real work that an automation does — something you build and switch on separately, triggered by a delivery, a read, a reply or a tag.

Why do I need an approved template?

Because Meta requires one for any message that starts a conversation outside the 24-hour reply window. Template Studio is where you draft them, submit them to Meta and see the outcome — including the rejection reason, in plain language, when one comes back.

What do I see after a send?

Sent, delivered, read and failed per recipient, with the reason and error code on each failure, and first replies attributed back to the campaign that caused them. You can retry just the failures without resending to everyone, and export every row as CSV.

How do opt-outs work?

A contact who replies with an explicit opt-out keyword lands on your Do not message list automatically and is skipped by future campaigns. The matcher is deliberately narrow — only an unambiguous keyword counts, so “don’t stop sending these” does not silently unsubscribe someone.

Automation

What a workflow can do, and the boundary it cannot cross.

What can an automation react to?

An inbound message, a conversation opening or closing, a contact being created, a tag being added or removed, a campaign message being delivered, read or failing, or a schedule. You can then narrow it with conditions on message text, contact tags and source, conversation status and assignment, or campaign result.

What can it do once it fires?

Add or remove a tag, add a note, assign or unassign a conversation, close or reopen it, suppress a contact, and send a text or a template. That is the complete list.

Can automations run arbitrary code or call my API?

No. A workflow is data describing which of Sparrow’s own operations to run, drawn from a closed list. There is no scripting language, no expression interpolation into anything executable, and no URL or endpoint field. Anything outside the list is rejected rather than quietly ignored.

Can I test one before it touches a customer?

Yes. Simulate the workflow first, then review every run afterwards — each execution is logged with what it did.

Can AI reply automatically?

Only if you turn it on. By default AI assists: it summarises conversations and suggests replies a person approves and sends. Fully automatic replying is a separate setting, off unless you enable it, limited to the intents you nominate and bounded by the credits you budget.

AI output can be wrong. You remain responsible for what is sent from your account, whether a person or an automation sent it.

Pricing & billing

What Sparrow charges for, and what Meta charges for.

How are WhatsApp messaging charges billed?

By Meta, directly to your own WhatsApp Business Account. Meta prices messaging on its own terms, and those charges go to the payment method attached to your WhatsApp Business Account — not to Sparrow.

Is Meta usage included in my Sparrow subscription?

No. Your Sparrow subscription covers access to the Sparrow platform. WhatsApp messaging charges are separate and are billed by Meta. Sparrow does not add a margin to Meta’s messaging charges and does not resell them. No plan includes unlimited WhatsApp messaging.

Then what is the campaign recipient limit on each plan?

Sparrow’s own monthly allowance — how many recipients Sparrow will send to on your behalf. It is not a pool of free messages and not a WhatsApp allowance. Whatever you send within it, Meta still charges you for separately.

Why don't the plans show a price?

Because list pricing is still being finalised, and we would rather quote you than publish a number we are about to change. Tell us your team size and volume and we will give you the current rate for the plan that fits.

What happens when I hit a plan limit?

Most limits are hard stops: the action is refused rather than billed as overage. Contacts are the exception — a soft limit, where you are warned and keep working. Nothing is charged automatically for going over.

Is annual billing available?

Not yet. Billing is monthly today. If an annual term matters for your procurement, tell us and we will work it out with you.

Where are my card details stored?

Not with us. Payment happens on the provider’s own hosted page, and Sparrow never receives or stores card numbers.

Security & privacy

Where your data sits, and what we will not do with it.

Does Sparrow sell my data?

No. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the contents of your customers’ conversations to advertise to them or to anyone else. Your data is processed to run the service you asked for. The privacy policy sets out the detail, including where we act as controller and where we act as processor for your business.

How is my workspace kept separate from other customers'?

By row-level security in the database, not by a filter in application code. Another organisation’s conversation is not “hidden” from your queries — it is invisible to them in the first place.

Does Sparrow hold any certifications?

Not yet, and we will not imply otherwise. The security page states plainly which standards Sparrow does not currently hold, alongside the controls it does actually operate.

Can I export or delete my data?

You can delete contacts, conversations, templates and campaigns from inside Sparrow at any time, and export what the product offers. For deleting a whole workspace or account, follow the data deletion process, which explains how we confirm you are entitled to ask.

Team access

Who can do what, and how that is enforced.

Can multiple people use one inbox?

Yes — that is the point of it. Invite your team and give each person a role. Everyone sees the same conversations; what they can do depends on their role.

What are the roles?

Owner, admin, marketer, agent and viewer. Owners and admins manage the workspace and its connections; marketers run campaigns; agents work conversations; viewers read. Only an owner can make another owner.

Are roles just hidden buttons?

No. Permissions are enforced in the database, so a role cannot be worked around by guessing a URL or replaying a request. Hiding the button is the courtesy; the database is the control.

How many people can I add?

It depends on your plan — five on Starter, fifteen on Growth, fifty on Pro, and unlimited on Enterprise. The comparison table has the rest.

Support

How to reach us, and what to expect.

How do I get help?

Write to hello@sparrow.qa, or use the contact form. A real person reads it.

Can I see the product before committing?

Yes — either start the 14-day trial without a card, or ask for a demo and we will walk you through it against your own use case.

Do you help with migrating from another platform?

Talk to us about it. What can move across depends on what your current platform lets you export, so we would rather look at your situation than promise something generic. Tell us what you are on now.

Still wondering

Ask us the awkward one.

If the answer would change your mind about Sparrow, we would rather you had it now than after you have connected a number.
